Anchor D Guiding & Outfitting
Anchor D Guiding and Outfitting

Summertime, and the living is easy ...

or so the song goes ... It doesn't seem to work that way for us as we are going full-tilt!  Along with our usual line-up of trail rides, Great Divide Rides, 4-day Adventurers, 7 Day Explorers, Lost Trail and North Rim to Ranch rides, we are also taking young people into the mountains for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

The Award is a programme that encourages youth to be active, to participate in new activities and pursue current interests in four different areas.  It offers them the opportunity to set goals and achieve results in fun and challenging ways, which includes overnight trips with Anchor D to get their Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.  We're having fun with the kids... and they're really enjoying getting out into the mountains on a horse and taking the Anchor D challenge!

Mexican Fiesta Cooking Ride

Katie and I are heading out for a fall/winter vacation the end of October, and we have three spots left if anyone wants to join us...  we're heading down to Valle de Bravo, Mexico, for a Fiesta Cooking Ride.  It's a week-long trip into the Sierra Madres, approximately 2 and a half hours south and west of Mexico City.  We will ride for three hours in the morning, and after we are served an amazing lunch, we head to the kitchen to learn how to cook the authentic Mexican cuisine that we will be eating all week.... it's pretty yummy.  We've been down there three times for the Classic Ride and we ate our fill of the various dishes that were served to us and we were hooked!  If anyone loves to cook and entertain guests, and also loves to ride, this is the best of both worlds.  C'mon and join us for a real adventure of riding and cooking!  Call me and I can fill you in on the details!

Heart of the Foothills

Discover The Heart of the Foothills - Along Route 546 you’ll find the most beautiful countryside.  Explore it from a macro view – on horseback – a two hour trail ride to the top of some of Kananaskis Country’s most majestic peaks. And from a micro view – with a naturalist guide into the forest habitat finding flowers, trees and animal pathways. This is a full weekend for nature lovers, capped off with a yoga stretch and two hour beginner watercolour class.  All included with your luxury stay at Diamond Willow Artisan Retreat.

Hurry!  Summer is coming to a close!

We still have spots on some of our trips from mid August to mid September - you still have time to get out into those incredible mountains for a little fun!  Give us a call today!!

Hello all,
Just want to give you a quick update on where we are at for hunts available for this year.
We are down in Kansas on the turkey hunt now. At this point our archers have taken 13 long beards for 11 hunters. We have 2 more groups of archers before the gun season opens here. We still have a few openings in May if you have any interest in fitting in a turkey hunt this spring.
Deadlines for the Kansas whitetail and Minnesota bear hunt are coming up fast. We have until the end of April to make applications.
The deer hunt is filling up. The second season of the archery hunt and the rifle hunt are full. We have a couple of openings October 31-Nov .4 and Nov. 16-20. Get hold of us to reserve your spot. We have had some interest in a pre-rut hunt in mid October. If you can put together a group of 4-6 hunters we will give you a great deal. While they are not in rut the big Kansas whitetails are here. Something else to keep in mind we are considering an early muzzleloader hunt for 2011. That hunt is the end of September to early October. If you have a group we can make that happen next year.
We have openings the first and third week of our bear hunt for this year. Tags were reduced again this year so you will have a 50-70% chance of drawing a tag without a preference point. Also we strongly encourage you to apply for a preference point if you have even the slightest interest in trying for a Minnesota black bear in the future. There is no charge at all for the point and we take care of all the applications. All you have to do is fill out our hunter registration form and write "preference point" across the top. We have attached a form for your convenience you can also get them off of out website as well.   www.ahwoutfitters.com
We were fortunate to have the Outdoor Channel Outfitters film a bear hunt and deer hunt with us last year. It will air on the Outdoor Channel on May 27th at 6:30 am and May 29th at 1:00 am and 1:30 pm all eastern time. Hope you can watch it.
Contact us with any questions or to schedule your hunt.

Hello all,
Just want to give you an update on how our hunts are going for this year. We have a had a good demand for our hunts even with the present economy. Thank you for putting your trust in us.
As of today we have a few spots left for the Kansas deer hunt. We have 7 openings for archery and only one rifle hunt opening.
Kansas turkey hunt is full for April and we have the last 4 weekends in May available.
The Minnesota bear hunt has a few spots open each of the 3 weeks. If you can not go this year but are considering a bear hunt with us in the future please fill out our hunter registration form so we can get you a preference point as it is getting more difficult to draw a bear tag. There is no charge for this preference point so fill out our form completely and send to use even if there is only a slight chance you may go someday.
Our hunts are filling up so please call to reserve and confirm your spot before mailing us your registration forms. We have attached a form for your convenience.
We are looking forward to another great year.
All the best to you in 2010,
Good hunting.

    End of Season Newsletter!

On behalf of JK Waterfowl, I would like to thank everyone who hunted with us this season!! For those of you who didn’t, hope to see you in field next year! We had some great hunts and memories to share! JK Waterfowl has grown at a rapid pace and we have no plans of slowing down! We are looking at expanding the West Side operation to include more fields. And in response to client request from this year, we are looking at fabricating some larger, deeper pit blinds to accommodate larger groups and make your experience more comfortable! In addition, we will be adding a second cargo trailer of gear and updating current spreads and layout blinds to help maintain success through out the season! I believe in hunting over the best gear we can provide on every hunt for our clients!

We will also be making some small rate increases for the West Side goose hunts in 2010. We will bump the rates from $150 per gun to $175 per gun. However, if you book now by February 31st, I will honor the $150 rate per gun!!!

We still have dates available for the Western Washington opener!!! They will go fast, so book now for up close shots on hundreds of decoying Canada’s!! The JK Waterfowl guides and staff will again be conducting seminars this summer at local Wholesale and Cabelas stores. Check out our website @ www.jkwaterfowl.com for updates and schedules! Also, we are preparing for the spring turkey season and have some great turkey properties in Spokane, Klickitat and Dayton areas! Give us a call to book your spring turkey hunt!! Good luck and hope to see you in the field!!

 Regards,

If you guys take this online course before March it will allow you to apply for a tag under a new "hunting families" lottery. There is a loop hole in the bill that allows non Montana  family members the same opportunity if you do the on-line hunter safety class before March. Rumor has it that the field day requirement will be dropped in January 2010. You must do it before March and should do it now even if you're not sure. The tags will be limited and much cheaper than the guaranteed outfitter tag. I did the practice test in about 5 minutes and I didn't read a thing before it and still scored 95%. Please do this asap.

 Attn.: Arizona Hunt Applicants

The Arizona Game and Fish regulations for Elk and Antelope are out! I have enclosed some information for you to review and hopefully will be helpful to you when applying for Arizona Elk and Antelope tags. There is new hunt that is in October for elk hunters this will be the 2nd rut I feel as though this hunt could be good but keep in mind depending on the year the rut maybe going hard at that time or it could be over. Either way there will still be some buglin and but a lot of the time the big bomber bulls are done rutting.
The units that this is in is Unit 8 October 22 - 25  Hunt number 3024 and 6A October 22-25 Hunt Number 3018. 7E also has the hunt but I am not a big fan of 7E but for those that are willing to kill a 300-330 class bull with little to no bonus points then you may consider this hunt.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

2009 Was a great year for Arrowhead Wilderness Outfitters!

Our hunters did extremely well this past year. We took some phenomenal whitetails in Kansas. A 195 inch monster and a 172 inch eight point both with archery. Rifle hunters took a 181, a 160 and two in the 150’s. We harvested a total of 26 bucks for 38 hunters with an unbelievable average of over 140 inches. 6 out of 8 rifle hunters were successful and the two who did not connect were close to big bucks and are planning on returning. Archers took 20 deer for 30 hunters. Most of them took the biggest deer of their life. Many have already reserved their spots for 2010. All of our deer, bear and turkey photos from our 2009 hunt can be found on our website. www.ahwoutfitters.com

In 2010 we are only taking three groups of archers on a five day hunt. One week is full and the other two are filling fast. We are taking two groups of rifle hunters again on four day hunts in December.  Kansas has moved their draw deadline to April this year but we expect nothing to change in the lottery system so hopefully everyone will draw again. If you have interest in hunting Kansas in the future I strongly suggest you apply for a preference point. This is done online and is quite easy. We can walk you through the process.

The Minnesota bear hunt went well for those lucky enough to draw a tag. We had 40 hunters, but 35 that were unsuccessful in the lottery. This is why it is extremely important to apply for preference points so you can go when you want. We do that for our hunters and there is no charge. Of the 40 hunters we took, 24 bears were taken and 6 hunters missed,  giving our hunters a 75% opportunity success rate. We took a big boar over 400 pounds just missing Boone and Crockett. Another boar was well over 300 pounds that easily made Pope and Young. We also took many other bears over 200 pounds. We are looking forward to another great year at bear camp so let us know if this is your year.

Our Kansas turkey hunt was outstanding. We harvested over 70 long beards with only one hunter going home without a bird. He did have a few opportunties and was not dissappointed in the least and has booked a spot for him and 3 of his friends in 2010. Turkey populations are still on the rise. Just when you think it couldn’t get any better we get another great hatch. The Spring turkey hunt is April and May. We are about 50% booked already. Tags can be purchased online or when you arrive. Space on all of our hunts is limited so if you or someone you know is interested in a hunt in 2010 call soon to book that hunt of a lifetime.                                                                                                                                                                                                           Wether it is deer, bear or turkey let us help make your dreams come true.

Brian Bachman   218-330-1353                        Give us a call.                 Donovan Huehl  785-488-5120

I would like to thank you for inquiring about Big Chino Guide Service & hunting in Arizona. In Arizona in order to come hunt you must obtain a tag through a draw process. Annually the Game & Fish Department takes application for the draw in January typically closing the 2nd Tuesday in February (February 09, 2010) for Elk and Antelope. Mule Deer, Couse Deer & Sheep are done in May – June.

Big Chino Guide Service offers an opportunity for you to join our application service & we will put you annually. This takes the heat of you as we all are so very busy & each one of us at one time or the other has missed an application deadline then read about how good the hunt was the following fall.

There is a small fee of $50.00 for the 1st species and $10.00 for any additional species for this service. Upon drawing your tag you will be put on a priority list with us & that guarantees you a spot to hunt with us. We also will credit you your $50.00 application fee back upon contracting with us to outfit & guide your hunt. Example: If it takes 10 years to draw a tag & you paid us $50.00 per year to apply you. After 10 years you would have spent $500.00 in which you be credited on the hunt. We will also send out information emails & a quarterly email keeping you updated on Big Chino’s Successful Hunts.

In order to draw in Arizona you must purchase a hunt license. This can take place at the same time as the application for the draw. We recommend that if you know that you are planning on hunting Arizona then just purchase the License a head of time. Other wise your out of pocket expense will be compound with every application. Also keep in mind that you will be responsible annual to pay for the license & tag fees for your Arizona Tags in the event that you do not draw they will refund you directly less the application fees. We will only collect the application fee for our service. If you use a credit card be sure that the card is available at the estimated time of application as if it is denied the AZGFD will reject your application & you will lose bonus points.

I have enclosed some information for you to review. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me any time on my cell phone: 928-925-9395 For the Application service we need the following information I have included a copy of the 2008 Antelope and Elk regulations as well as the Application that would need to be filled out

http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/h_f/regulations/2009/ElkAntelope.pdf  and http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/documents/HuntApplicationform2006-07v8.pdf

If any questions Please contact me.

1A Hunting in Texas Guide Service

Due to the repressed economy, some of the ranches with which I work are offering deer hunting prices that I haven't seen in 10 years or more. We are talking low, Low, LOW for what you get compared to what it costs us to raise the deer and conduct the hunt. Discounts are also being offered on hog hunts, duck hunts, large groups, youth hunters, husband/wife hunts and more. A good place to start your research would be on my "Specials Page", if you are interested.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE PRICES IF YOU CAN FIND ANY WAY TO GET IT DONE. WHEN THE ECONOMY GOES BACK UP, THESE PRICES WILL GO UP WITH IT; GUARANTEED!
